Corporate Headshots – How to prepare in 3 simple steps!

indiestudios-cabooltureHaving a great corporate headshot is a critical piece of your business media set. Not just to look good on your website, but if you happen to get some publicity in the media you want to be able to shoot through the images of you looking your very best at a moments notice.

Step 1 – Choose the right Photographer

Making sure you book with the right person is by far the most important thing of all. One of the best ways to find out if a photographer is the right one for you is to give them a call and have a chat. Specifically, be sure to ask them what they would like you to do in preparation for the shoot. This will give you some idea of how professional they are as a photographer, and how prepared they are to deliver high quality images.

Step 2 – Get a Haircut!

I know, I know… this one is pretty obvious,  but making sure you look your best means you will also feel your best. You’d be surprised the impact this has on your finished images. You’ve probably heard it said that ‘Confidence sells!’ which is absolutely true. So if looking your best means getting a haircut or having your makeup done then enjoy it, stop reading and make a booking! (quick tip for the fellas: if you get your hair cut a week prior to the shoot it should look great for the day!)

Step 3 – Consider your wardrobe

Theres heaps of information out there about specifically what to wear, but at the end of the day you have to feel good in the clothes you choose. You will also need to ask your photographer what types of backgrounds they have for the shoot so you can coordinate contrasting colours and shades. Consider how your clothes will portray the image you want in your photos. If you are a tradesman, you may want to wear some Hi-Vis gear, or a uniform. If you are in a professional type role, then get out your best suit and get ready to go. If you can, its also a great idea to bring along two or three sets of clothes for the shoot, that way you can try out different looks and stay fresh and excited for each portion of the shoot (you photographer will thank you for this one!).

As always, if you are looking for corporate headshots in the Caboolture, Sunshine Coast or Moreton Bay area feel free to give me a call and I’d be happy to help out with a shoot either on location or at my home studio! Thanks for reading!
